Walking Together for a Brighter Tomorrow: Thorntons Recycling Supports Darkness Into Light 2025 07/05/2025

At Thorntons Recycling, community and care are central to our mission—and this weekend, we’re proud to play our part in supporting one of Ireland’s most powerful movements for hope and healing.

We’re honoured to announce that Thorntons Recycling is providing full waste management services for five key locations during this Saturday’s Darkness Into Light 5km walk, the annual fundraising event in support of Pieta’s life-saving mental health services.

This year, we are proudly managing waste and sustainability efforts at the following locations:

  • Malahide
  • Tymon Park
  • Ringsend
  • Marlay Park
  • Phoenix Park

As thousands of people walk together from darkness into light at dawn, our team will be on the ground before, during, and after each event, ensuring clean, safe, and environmentally responsible spaces for all participants and volunteers.

We know that moments like this are more than just events—they’re acts of solidarity, reflection, and support for those struggling with mental health challenges or grieving lost loved ones. That’s why we’re committed not only to keeping these venues clean but also to upholding the community spirit that drives them.

Why It Matters
Pieta’s work in suicide prevention and mental health support has touched thousands of lives across Ireland. Every step taken during Darkness Into Light helps fund free, 24/7 counselling services and outreach programmes for those in crisis. Thorntons Recycling is deeply proud to contribute to that mission by supporting the event’s logistics and sustainability.

From all of us at Thorntons Recycling, we wish the very best to all walkers, volunteers, and organisers taking part this Saturday, May 10th.
