We are excited to unveil our latest investment in our Mixed Dry Recycling Facility, Park West, Dublin 12.
A total spend of over €3 million will allow Thorntons Recycling to process additional recycling tonnes, produce more and higher quality recycling material from this incoming tonnage.
We have completely revamped the processing line with the installation of the following equipment, a larger bag opener, additional and larger optical sorters, an ONP screen to segregate large paper product, dedicated quality control cabins and new electronic control system.
The new state of the art equipment will enable us to redeploy 25% of existing quality control staff while producing additional superior quality recycling material.
Of particular interest will be the addition of an optical sorter that is dedicated to segregating pots, tubs and trays. This material would have been segregated by hand previously. We will now be able to produce 600 additional tonnes of pots tubs and trays for recycling that would have previously gone to waste to energy facilities.
