We were delighted to continue our support for the Cherry Orchard Equine Centre in 2022.
Yard Manager Michelle Leonard kindly sent us an update from the year:
“Sponsorship from Thorntons Recycling has enabled the Pony Club to have the security of knowing that we could continue for the year financially. To have that stability was of huge importance and meant that we had the freedom to put a plan in place for the entirety of 2022.
With Covid restrictions relaxed we were able to have a very productive 2022 after the two previous years being filled with stoppages and uncertainty. We were able to return to our previous activities of having all Pony Club members on site together, instead of the small pods we were working with in 2020 and 2021. The whole ethos of the Cherry Orchard branch is to be fully inclusive with members working together and in teams regardless of age or ability.
Our main focus this year was to prepare our members for Pony Club tests. We had a test day at the start of August during our Pony Club Camp. We had a total of four different tests which were assessed by external examiners. We are delighted to report that we had a 100% pass rate, the examiners commented that the standard was very high, and they were delighted with the candidates.
Due to Thorntons Recycling very kindly gifting the Pony Club tickets for the RDS, we had a great day out. It was a day for members to enjoy with their friends and family. For the club it’s all about experiences and seeing new and different things, so that trip certainly ticked all those boxes.
Pony Club is going from strength to strength, we have 19 members at present. We have had a show jumping competition a few weeks ago and intend to have a dressage competition this week. The Cross-Country course, which Thorntons Recycling so kindly helped us with in 2020, has added a new dimension to the training with riders riding on different terrain and a feeling of open space.”
With some exciting plans for next year the group are going from strength to strength and we at Thorntons Recycling are proud to join them on the journey. Corporate Social Responsibility is a serious consideration for the company and its sustainability targets.
